FSM Building System 90/205 (Reappraisal 1994)
This is an industrialised building system for the erection of single-storey buildings. A loadbearing steel framework is clad externally with fibre-cement sheets and internally with fibre-cement sheets or Everite Building Board. The cavity between sheets is insulated.
The roof structure comprises steel trusses and ceiling frames. Foundations, surface beds, services and roof covering are conventional.
This certificate covers the use of the FSM building system for the erection of single storey buildings of the following types provided that the walls are used in the appropriate positions as set out in the certificate, in all areas of Southern Africa with the exception of the coastal areas of Namibia.
- H4 - detached dwellings and their related detached out buildings;
- A3 - non-residential school buildings;
- H2 - hostels;
- G1 - offices (single tenancy only);
- D4 - buildings for telecommunication equipment (single tenancy only);
- D2 & D3 - workshops (single tenancy only).
Note: The occupancy classes given in Table 1 of Regulation A20(1) of SABS 0400 of 1990 have been attributed by Agrément South Africa of the types of buildings covered by the certificate.
