Public Works Portfolio Committee interacts with Agrément

The Portfolio Committee on Public Works visited Agrément South Africa yesterday (20 July). Following a presentation on the Agency, committee members were taken on a tour of the Agrément test site where products are being tested for certification. This was followed by a visit to the Eric Molobi Innovation Hub in Soshanguve to see houses that are being built using innovative constructions materials.

The certificate covers the WinKlik FibreCrete Window frames in conjunction with aluminium sashes and glazing for use in buildings of all occupancy classes (SANS 10400: Table 1 of regulation A (20) (1)) in all areas of South Africa.

The WinKlik FibreCrete Windows comprise a combination of fibre cement frames (mullions and transoms), aluminium sashes with monolithic or laminated glazing and ancillary components, viz, lugs, bolts, nuts and screws

HOUSE-IN-A-CAN BUILDING SYSTEM - 2010/371

The House-In-A-Can Building System is a combination of innovative and conventional construction methods. It is a single storey structure that comprises:

  • foundations: cast in-situ concrete surface bed and thickened edge beams  which in all cases are designed by a professional engineer or competent person.

MG SIP BUILDING SYSTEM - 2010/370

The MG SIP Building System is a combination of innovative and conventional construction method. It is a single storey structure that utilises factory produced wall and roof panels. Walls are 2400 mm x 1200 mm x 125 mm thick lightweight interlocking sandwich panels comprising a polyurethane (PU) core encapsulated in two layers of 11 mm thick oriental strand board (OSB). They are clad internally with 15 mm thick fire-resistant gypsum plasterboard and externally with 12 mm thick medium density Nutek board.

Blast Building System - 2010/372

The certificate covers the use of the Blast Building System in all areas of South Africa excluding the SCCP area, for the erection of single storey buildings for the uses (SANS 10400: Table 1 of Regulation A (20) (1)) set out below:

·   A3 places of instruction

·   B2 and B3 moderate and low risk commercial

·   H4 dwelling house and related out-building

The Blast Building System foundations consist of conventional concrete surface bed foundation with thickened edge beams and thickening under the internal load bearing walls. Surface bed is power floated to a smooth finish or screed at a later stage   G1 office and day clinics

Spunsulation 5 Light Roofing Radiant Barrier - 2009/369

The top layer of Spunsulation 5 Light Roofing Radiant Barrier is manufactured from pigmented ultraviolet light resistant and non-toxic flame retarded non-woven spunbond polypropylene. The layers are laminated by means of homogenous polyolefin based film web to the aluminium foil bottom layer. The membrane has a nominal mass of 174 g/m2 with a thickness of between 0, 29 mm to 0, 31 mm. It is supplied in rolls 30 m long and 1, 5 m wide.

Spunsulation 5 Light Roofing Radiant Barrier is suitable for installation in all tiled-roof buildings with timber roof construction. It was not evaluated for metal roof construction and side-wall cladding
